Abstract

During the first decade of the 20th century, the media have modified their structures due to the impact of digital technology. As a result, it has become neces-sary to monitor the changes and analyze the developments in order to better understand its evolution and consequences. One of the goals of the Infoscopos project is to assess the process of change from the more traditional methods of information to digital information in the Spanish press; and evaluate its impact on different activities, such as research, teach-ing, and its influence on the profesionals dedicated to information and documentation. We are presenting the results of the analysis of the documentation and technology in relation with twelve of the leading daily newspapers, according to the Estudio General de Medios (EGM–General Media Study) and the Oficina de Justificación de la Difusión (OJD–Distribution Justification Office). 83.4% of the newspaper are storing their news in databases.
