This state of the art on is based on the Library Science Database Library and the Library Information Science Abstracts database (LISA), and provides an analysis and the implications of the use of Complexity and Chaos Theory in the field of Library and Information Science. After an introduction to its epistemological foundations, we analyze the scientific production in formal terms of authorship, institutional affiliations and main journals, as well as a thematic categorization of a total of 303 articles that met the applied research criteria. The results show a limited use of these theories in the field of Library and Information Science, which is generally framed by the perspectives of Management and Organizational Behaviour. Suggestions for further research are also included.Downloads
