A parallel between blockchain technology and the RDC-Arq requirements

Blockchain technology possibilities are analysed in the context of RDC-Arq requirements form the point of view of archivists' perception about digital documents authenticity and integrity. In particular, this article sought to explore software security features used for digital documents management by archivists. It was considered how that software is been used to preserve the authenticity and integrity of digital documents, and the professional opinion about how it contributes to preserve the chain of custody. Finally, a comparative between blockchain technology and the RCD-Arq features is elaborated from the perspective of the archivists participating in the research. The research shows that blockchain technology have good potential for maintening the authenticity and integrity of digital documents, highlighting the importance of following RDC-Arq guidelines.Downloads
