Resumo

Teniendo en cuenta los actuales desafíos que enfrentan las universidades, como la obligación de rendir cuentas a la sociedad, la necesidad de una mayor visibilidad científica, la alta competencia a través de los rankings internacionales y el avance de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación, se analiza la figura de la oficina de comunicación científica en el ámbito de la biblioteca universitaria. Para ello, se parte de los modelos de comunicación científica existentes para llegar a productos y servicios de una oficina de comunicación científica a través del análisis de una muestra de quince oficinas de comunicación científica existentes en bibliotecas de universidades consideradas de excelencia en cuatro rankings universitarios internacionales. Los resultados evidencian, en diferentes etapas de desarrollo, actividades relacionadas con el acceso abierto, los derechos de autor, la gestión de datos de investigación, los identificadores de autor, el impacto de la investigación, las métricas, la publicación y los repositorios. Se concluye que la identificación y sistematización de las iniciativas relacionadas con los servicios de apoyo a la comunicación científica ubicados en las bibliotecas con el fin de estructurar oficinas de este tipo, a partir de la realidad estudiada, llevan a pensar en la necesidad de que la formación del bibliotecario contemple una sólida base en comunicación científica (y con una fuerte base en la sociología de la ciencia), no solo desde un punto de vista normativo, sino a partir de una experiencia investigativa efectiva que permita al bibliotecario ponerse en la posición del investigador y, de esta manera, tener claridad sobre los aspectos que requieren su apoyo.
