El papel de las autocitas en el factor de impacto de las revistas de Biblioteconomía y Ciencia de la Información

Resumo

El factor de impacto de las revistas depende del número de citas recibidas, entre las que se incluyen las autocitas a la propia revista. El objetivo principal de este estudio es determinar la tasa de autocitas en las revistas de Biblioteconomía y Ciencia de la Información y analizar su influencia en el factor de impacto, estudiando si hay diferencias entre las revistas por especialidades: Library Science (LS), Information Science (IS) y Management Information Systems (MIS). Se seleccionaron las revistas de la categoría Information Science and Library Science en el Journal Citation Reports con factor de impacto, y se clasificaron en tres especialidades: LS, IS y MIS. Se extrajeron del Journal Citation Reports (JCR) los datos del año 2022 relacionados con las autocitas e impacto de las revistas: número total de citas, autocitas, número de ítems publicables, factor de impacto con y sin autocitas y cuartil. A partir de estos datos, se creó la tasa de autocitas para cada revista. Las revistas de la especialidad MIS tienen mayor factor de impacto y menor tasa de autocitas que las revistas de IS y las de LS, siendo estas últimas las que presentan menor factor de impacto y mayor tasa de autocitas. Existe en las tres especialidades una correlación inversa entre la tasa de autocitas y los factores de impacto, aunque solamente es significativa en las revistas de MIS.
