This work addresses the importance of literature review and the interpretive paradigm for Information Science, not only as a domain of an object of study, but also as an opportunity to generate new scientific knowledge. In this sense, it is verified how hermeneutics can serve the interests of Information Science and modern scientific environments. An interpretation of the hermeneutic dialectical circle of the philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer is proposed, and it appears that this can be useful for studies dealing Information Science, both for the interpretation of authorities and for the structuring of information. For exemple of this, an outline of a hermeneutic methodological approach is presented, applied to a doctoral thesis completed in knowledge organization.
